Mayne Island is a very special place of great natural beauty. A stunning Island landscape of bays, valleys and high rock bluffs. Mayne Island is geographically blessed by a warm Mediterranean climate and conveniently positioned at the center of the five southern Gulf Islands.


Mayne Island is at the front door of Canada's newest spectacular 35 sq. kilometres Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. Spread over some 16 islands numerous Islets and reefs and buffered by a mild Mediterranean climate within sheltered waters and accessible by powerboat, Kayak or Canoe, this park is yours to discover and explore. There is something for everyone, all ages and skill levels.


The History of Mayne Island is rich and colourful. In 1858 Thousands of prospectors heading for the Fraser River gold rush boarded or rowed boats heading from Victoria to the Mainland. The mid way point was Mayne Island, and it burst into life as boatloads of miners stopped in to rest and buy supplies. In 1900 Mayne Island became the commercial and social hub for the southern Gulf Islands. Many of the buildings from that era have been well maintained and are still in use.
